Behind The Collection: Desert Dream

Now that the Desert Dream Collection has officially launched, I thought that it was only right that I share with you how this collection came to life.

Back in April, I took a trip to Arizona to celebrate my birthday. Now you're probably thinking - why Arizona.

If you've followed my journey for any amount of time you'd know that I'm a beach kind of girl. But this time around, I wanted to go somewhere different.

After researching Arizona for several months, I knew that it would be the perfect place to bring in a new chapter. So I booked the trip.

When I arrived to Arizona I was blown away. Though I had seen pictures prior to arriving, they just didn’t compare to seeing this beautiful place in person.

When most people think of Arizona, the first thing that comes to mind is probably a desert. But let me be the first to tell you that it is so much more than that.

It is literally a dream - filled with breathtaking views, natural beauty, and lush landscapes.

To my surprise traveling to Arizona put into perspective how I had been feeling for the first few months of the year. Business had been slow, I felt uninspired creatively, and I really just felt like I was in a desert place.

But yet, in those unexpected places we often find life and beauty if we just keep dreaming and pressing forward.

This realization inspired me personally and creatively. So once I returned home from my trip, I got to work designing what would become the Desert Dream Collection.

I really wanted to capture the essence of the desert landscape throughout the collection. Arizona is filled with so much color so I decided to choose a vibrant color palette to help awaken the senses and instantly transport you to somewhere new.

In addition, there is a lot of texture within the state from the diverse plant life and the natural environment. So I focused on sourcing fabrics that incorporated a lot of texture to help bring this concept to life.

From a product perspective, you know we love caftans around here. While I incorporated a few within the collection, I also wanted to incorporate some new silhouettes to provide a range of options to choose from.

Even more, I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and continue to develop my design skills.

Every collection is special to me but this one here means so much more. Desert Dream is a love letter to keep dreaming no matter how hard things get. In the end it’ll be worth it.
